
Commercial Bank of Texas has announced that it is going to open a branch in Palestine City.
Branch Manager, Jessica Jones said that the new facility will be located at the corner of Mallard and Lacy Street.
In 1901 T. J. Williams founded the Commercial Bank of Texas as Commercial National Bank of Nacogdoches with initial capital of $50,000.
Anticipating future growth in October 1995, the bank changed its name to Commercial Bank of Texas.
Two acquisitions in 1998, the purchase of The Bank of East Texas, and the purchase of four branch locations from Surety Bank doubled the bank's asset size.
This expanded the bank's market to include Angelina, Cherokee, and Houston counties.
Currently the bank as more than 180 employees in 10 communities and the board of directors and officers of the bank are personally involved in the communities they serve. The bank remains the only locally owned bank in Nacogdoches.
In 2015 Commercial Bank of Texas took over the Elkhart State Bank, Manager Jones said and its closed locations beyond Elkhart are in Kennard and Wells.
Jones said the opening of the new branch is currently pending under regulatory approval.
“We have put in our application for the branch, we don't expect any issues, but we are still pending regulatory approval, which is normal,” Jones said.
When the branch opens, it will be a full service bank, with drive through and ATM.
“Commercial Bank of Texas is very service oriented and very community service oriented,” said Jones.
“We hope to have our Palestine branch open by June,” she said.
Jones said that their plan is to employee six people for the new branch location.
Jones said, people, who wishes to open an account before the June opening, can open now at the Elkhart branch
