No Petrol And Diesel Sale Without PUC After Diwali

The government of New Delhi took one more interesting decision in the state. To curb the vehicle pollution, the government of Delhi decided to prohibit the sale of petrol and diesel at the fuel stations of the state if there is no Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate. Gopal Rai, the Environmental Minister of Delhi said that a notification about the same will be issued very soon. He addressed a press conference about the same and the decision was taken after he had a meeting with the officials from the departments of transport, traffic and environment. "Vehicular emission is one of the key contributors to rising pollution in Delhi. It is imperative to reduce it so it has been decided that from October 25 petrol, diesel will not be provided at petrol pumps without PUC certificate of the vehicle" told Gopal Rai.

A 24*7 war room will be launched by the government of Delhi on October 3rd which is aimed at battling pollution. The minister also told about Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). The violations and the complaints will be monitored by the war room. GRAP will tackle the air pollution in New Delhi as per the severity of the situation. The revised rules of GRAP came into force from Saturday after Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has classified in four stages: Stage I - 'Poor', if the Air Quality Index (AQI) is from 201-300; Stage II - 'Very Poor' if AQI ranges from 301-400; Stage III - 'Severe', if AQI is 401-450; and Stage IV - 'Severe Plus', if the AQI is above 450). There would be inspections conducted at the sites from October 6th as a part of the anti-dust campaign.
