Gmail blocks 100 million phishing attempts on a regular basis

Google announced that Gmail blocks more than 100 million phishing attempts. At the same time, Google Play can protect more than 100 billion apps for malware issues. The step is taken after the cyber-attacks across the countries are increased. There are a lot of criminals who are quite brazen in performing them. After the arrival of the coronavirus pandemic, the number of cyber-attacks increased on a huge note in the past six months. There are attacks on the private sector along with the public sector and on the individuals around the world. Kent Walker, SVP of Global Affairs at Google said "We are deeply concerned by these trends. Security is the cornerstone of our product strategy. We have dedicated teams like Project Zero who focus on finding and fixing vulnerabilities across the web to make the internet safer for all of us".

Google has been supporting the recent White House Cybersecurity Executive Order to improve the defenses in key areas. Google is keen on making the security simple and modernizing computing systems and adopting the best practices. Google also emphasized the security software supply chain and special technologies are built so that the integrity is enhanced and the software is more secured. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and US Justice Department recently announced that they will treat cyber incidents as terror attacks.
