The Redmi Turbo 5 is going to be released in India shortly, as announced by the Xiaomi sub-brand. This will be the first phone in the Redmi Turbo series to be available in the country. The company has hinted that the device will have a dual rear camera setup and will be sold in at least a black color. A recent report suggests that the Redmi Turbo 5 will be launched in India around the middle of next month. It is said that this smartphone will come out alongside the rumored Redmi 17 5G. The Turbo series phone is likely to have similar specs and features as its counterpart in China. Smartprix, together with the leaker Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh), has revealed the launch date for the new Redmi Turbo 5. It is expected to be introduced on June 14. Along with the Turbo series device, the brand is also anticipated to unveil the Redmi 17 5G. Furthermore, it has been mentioned that the Redmi Turbo 5 will feature specs comparable to the version released in China. For context, the Redmi Turbo 5 made its debut in China in January, starting at a price of CNY 2,299 (approximately Rs. 30,000) for the basic model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It has a 6.59-inch AMOLED screen (1,268x2,756 pixels), which can reach a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, a touch sampling rate of up to 480Hz, a peak brightness of up to 3,500 nits, and supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+.
The Redmi Turbo 5 in China is powered by an octa-core 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra processor, along with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x Ultra RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 internal memory. The device is rated IP66, IP68, and IP69K for dust and water protection. In terms of cameras, it includes a dual rear camera setup with a 50-megapixel (f/1.5) Sony IMX882 main camera and an 8-megapixel (f/2.2) ultrawide lens. For selfies, it has a 20-megapixel (f/2.2) front camera. On the other hand, the Redmi 17 5G is expected to feature a high-refresh-rate LCD display. Additionally, it might be equipped with a Snapdragon 4 series processor coupled with a battery over 7,000mAh. It is believed to have a 50-megapixel primary rear camera along with an 8-megapixel front camera for taking selfies and making video calls. It is expected to run on Android 16-based HyperOS 3.
This news follows the company's earlier tease about bringing the Redmi Turbo 5 to India. Recently, the specific pages for the Redmi Turbo 5 on Amazon and the Xiaomi India online store went live, confirming that the device will be available through these two platforms. It will be available in at least a black color option.
